BEIKS announces Pocket Medical Encyclopedia for BlackBerry handhelds

DALLAS (February 10, 2005) - - Beiks LLC, the world leader in language and medical references for mobile devices announces availability of the MedicineNet's Pocket Medical Encyclopedia for the popular BlackBerry handhelds.

Produced by the MedicineNet's network of 75+ board certified physicians, the Medical Encyclopedia brings essential medical knowledge that is easy to follow and understand.

The new, second edition, utilized by the Beiks application, includes over 15,000 unique reference terms, nearly double the amount of the previous book version. Content is also expanded to include not only standard medical terms, but also pertinent scientific terms, abbreviations, acronyms, jargons, institutions, projects, symptoms, syndromes, eponyms and medical history.

"The MedicineNet Pocket Encyclopedia gives quick and convenient access to important medical information to users of mobile devices, said William C. Shiel, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.P., Chief Medical Editor and co-founder of MedicinetNet.com. "Each entry is written in lay language to present helpful insights into health and medical issues. At MedicineNet, we take advantage of the doctor's role as educator to bring medical information to the reader!"

Based on the Beiks reference technology used in other language and medical reference solutions, the Pocket Medical Encyclopedia for BlackBerry comes optimized for easy one-hand operation, minimal memory requirements and optimal speed. Once installed the product does NOT require or utilize network connection.

All Beiks reference solutions are designed to work on the newer generation of J2ME BlackBerry devices running OS 3.6 and higher, including the latest BlackBerry 7100 models. Proprietary database format especially developed for BlackBerry devices allows all reference data to be highly compressed, making the most of the RIM J2ME extensions and resulting in faster searches and lower memory requirements.

The MedicineNet Pocket Encyclopedia can be found in the BlackBerry section of www.beiks.com for only US$29.95.
